All About Play Therapy
What is Play Therapy?
Play therapy is not just about "having fun playing." Child Centered Play Therapy is an evidence-based counselling method that is developmentally appropriate for children aged 3-10.
Children are not good at articulating, verbalizing and explaining their complex inner world, but instead, they express and resolve emotional conflicts through their natural form of communication "play".
"Play" allows children to create enough distance from their emotionally intense experiences, which helps them to feel safer to explore and gain understanding of what happened to them.
Play therapists are trained professionals who can create "safety within relationships." In a relationship characterized by warmth, understanding and acceptance, children are not only able to digest their experiences but also find themselves once again for who they are born to be.
It is believed this discovery, leads us to become more resilient.
But most of all, children love coming to the play therapy!
*** Depending on your child's age and needs, other forms of therapy may be incorporated (such as art therapy and expressive therapy etc...)

Hi, my name is Missy! I’m a trauma-informed, clinically trained child and family therapist, and an Internal Family Systems therapy practitioner.
My journey began as a school volunteer, supporting children with behavioral issues. After 5 years of volunteering experience, I became very curious about child behaviours - which led me to work in this field in the professional capacity. Since, I have had the privilege of working with many families with a history of intergenerational trauma, and with children exhibiting various behavioural symptoms. During my career, I witnessed endless heartwarming transformations in both the children and the family. I am here to guide you and your family through complex and difficult times. I am passionate about my work and I truly care about my clients and their families and always do my absolute best to support every client I meet!
